Propose an Alliance From Defense
To form an alliance in Geoplanetical, open Defense → Alliances → New treaty, choose a treaty type, select the countries, and review their responses before sending the proposal. A proposed agreement still needs acceptance. Choosing a partner is not the same as having an active alliance.
The official military-treaty instructions describe the available treaty choices and the commitments to review.
Choose the Commitment You Actually Want
The treaty screen distinguishes a defensive pact, guarantee, non-aggression pact, and military-access agreement. These are different relationships, so decide what you are trying to secure before selecting one.
A defensive pact can include additional clauses for military access, intelligence sharing, and offensive assistance. Available clauses depend on the treaty type; do not assume every proposal includes every benefit.
Set the duration and withdrawal notice alongside the participating countries. Those terms help define the agreement you are proposing, not just its name.
Send the Proposal and Read the Result
Review each partner's response and the reasons displayed. When you want to proceed, choose Send the proposal.
Afterward, open the treaty details to check its actual commitments. If the proposed relationship was not accepted, do not plan around it as if it were already in force. The response and treaty record are more useful than the fact that you opened the negotiation screen.
Do Not Assume Allies Automatically Join Every War
A defensive call and a voluntary invitation to join a war are separate decisions. When a covered ally is attacked, a partner can enter the war, provide military support, grant access only, or refuse the call.
If you lead a side in an ongoing war, open its theater and choose Call allies. Select an available ally, then use Ask to join the war in Cablegram. This request can also be made in a war you started, but the ally can decline. Follow the reply before counting its formations as part of your coalition.
FAQ
Where do I begin a new alliance?
Use Defense → Alliances → New treaty, then choose the treaty and participating countries.
Is military access the same as a defensive pact?
No. They are distinct treaty choices. Check the obligations and optional clauses of the proposal you select.
Does an alliance guarantee help in an offensive war?
No. You can request voluntary participation through Call allies, but the other government can refuse.
