Coalition Formation Follows the Country's Institutions

In Geoplanetical, the game resolves coalition formation and any required investiture after an election where government depends on Parliament. Parties need compatible partners and enough support. Winning the most seats does not automatically give your party a government of its own.

The practical route is to contest the relevant election, then inspect Politics → Assembly and Government after the result. The official elections guide explains these checks without describing a separate manual party-invitation process.

Check Which Election Actually Determines Power

Open Politics → Assembly and look at the upcoming dates for each chamber and elected executive office. These are separate contests, so winning parliamentary seats is not the same as winning the presidency.

Next, check Politics → Institutions for the chamber's selection method, voting system, and renewal rules. A partial renewal replaces only part of the chamber rather than resetting every seat. Existing seats can therefore remain relevant to the new balance.

Prepare the appropriate campaign in My party. When more than one election is underway, select the contest you intend to campaign in.

Read the Government After the Result

Return to Assembly and Government to inspect the seat distribution, governing coalition, and holders of the executive offices. Use those results to establish whether your party actually entered government.

The official FAQ notes that a minority or caretaker government is possible. In countries with separate presidential and parliamentary authority, a parliamentary result can also change the government while the president stays in office. Judge your powers by the offices you hold and the constitution, not only your party's position in the seat ranking.

Coalition Membership Does Not Guarantee Every Bill

Before proposing legislation, check its voting forecast and required majority in each chamber. Your coalition's existence does not guarantee every vote.

You can set your party's voting line or ask another party leader for support through Cablegram. An accepted request can change that party's voting line. This is support for a bill, not evidence that the other party has joined your governing coalition.

FAQ

Does the largest party always form the government?

No. Compatible partners, sufficient support, and the country's institutions matter; a minority or caretaker outcome is also possible.

Where do I check the coalition?

Inspect Assembly and Government after the election for seats, the governing coalition, and executive officeholders.

Does asking for support in Cablegram create a coalition?

The documented request asks a party leader to support a bill. Do not confuse that legislative support with coalition membership.
